FAQ

Where can I get a Longlife Stainless Steel Exhaust?

We have centres at locations throughout England, Northern Ireland, Ireland, Scotland and Wales where you can get a Longlife Stainless Exhaust made and fitted.

What is the guarantee on a Longlife system?

Our systems are guaranteed forever!!. This guarantee can, for a small charge, be transferred to the next owner when you come to sell your vehicle. This is in contrast to most of our competitors who only give a limited ‘lifetime of ownership’ guarantee.

What materials do you use making a Longlife exhaust?

Longlife exhaust systems are made using only the best quality T304 grade stainless steel. By using the best quality materials we are able to confidently guarantee our work for life.

How can I get a quote?

You can phone your local depot who will be happy to give you a quote on the phone or you can fill in our online quote form and you will get an email back.

FAQ

Are your systems expensive?

A Longlife Stainless Steel Exhaust can often be less expensive than an original equipment mild steel replacement. When you bear in mind that the mild steel system will eventually have to be replaced, a Longlife system works out to be excellent value in real terms.

Can I have a stainless steel back box fitted to my mild steel centre section?

This is no problem on most vehicles. A stainless back box only will be less expensive that a full catalyst back system and if at a later date you wish to have the exhaust continued in stainless steel up to the catalyst we will be able to do this.

How will my new exhaust system sound?

Before we start your job, the fitter will have a discussion with you to find out your requirements from the system in terms of looks and sound. Based on your discussion, they will build the system to your requirements – so whether you require standard, mild sport, mid sport or full sports we will select the appropriate silencers and tubing size for the job.

Why do you TIG weld your systems rather than MIG them?

We use TIG welding simply because it is the best type of welding for exhaust applications. Although it takes us slightly longer to complete the welding part of the job, the end result is a far stronger weld and also much better looking.

Audi R8 Spyder News: Audi R8 Spyder V8 – Car and Driver

From the Something-We-Figured-Was-Coming-But-Are-Thrilled-To-See-Anyway Department comes Audi’s announcement of the R8 Spyder 4.2 FSI Quattro. It’s basically the V-8 version of the V-10–engined

, which itself is scheduled to appear in U.S. showrooms starting this September.

Audi of America says the V-8 Spyder will arrive in the U.S. in early 2011 with a 430-hp version of Audi’s 4.2-liter V-8, which coupes also will receive for 2011. A gated six-speed manual will be standard, while Audi’s R tronic automated manual will be optional. Although the 2011 model year starts this fall, 2011 R8 coupes won’t arrive until the Spyder shows up next year. If Audi keeps the weight gain to somewhere near the 220-pound difference between the V-10 coupe and Spyder models, the 4.2 Spyder should be able to knock out a 0-to-60-mph sprint in about 4.2 seconds. (We have been able to get the

to 60 in four flat.)

No official imagery of the Spyder 4.2 has been made available (the V-10 Spyder is shown here), but we can surmise that it will look like a topless 4.2 coupe, with quad tailpipes and straked, matte-finish air intakes and extractors. Like its V-10–equipped counterpart, the V-8 Spyder’s fairings will be rendered in “glistening silver,” Audi says, with the windshield surround coated with anodized aluminum. Three cloth colors—red, black, and brown—will be offered for the softtop, to complement the 11 available paint colors. If the V-10 model serves as any precedent, anticipate a base-price bump of about 10 percent over that of the coupe, which would put it up in the neighborhood of $130K, some $35,000 less than the V-10 Spyder.
